A Growing Vegan and Vegetarian Community

For example, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations reported that India consumes less meat than any other country and partly because of their religion. It was estimated that one person may consume 3 times less meat compared to one person in the United States.

India is only one of the countries with the highest population of vegans or vegetarians. We can mention Ethiopia, Israel, and Spain among other countries. Vegan restaurants are becoming more popular and are definitely growing in the United States adapting some of the other countries' dishes and recipes. The vegetarian community is growing and they are on the rise in the United States.

An article published in the Vegetarian Times reported that 3.2 percent of the U.S. adults or 7.3 million people, follow a vegetarian diet. Approximately 0.5 percent or 1 million of those are vegans, who consume no animal products at all.

A vegan or vegetarian will still have problems finding vegan or vegetarian menus in restaurants in the United States. Reason why most vegetarians or vegans prepare their own foods. Buying fresh and seasonal fruits and vegetables can be easy, but it can be challenging and time consuming.
