Our Moringa Oleifera is an ADAPTOGEN :  So what are Adaptogens??? Moringa Oleifera, one of several herbs entitled Adaptogens, works to bring the body to a balanced state of health – capable of toning down or strengthening the activity of the body’s hyper functioning systems, depending on your body’s needs.

Adaptogens are a natural substance that works with a person’s body and helps them to adapt, most notably to stress.  Adaptogens are a natural ally in dealing with persistent stress and fatigue because they work with regulating hormones.

A unique group of herbal ingredients, adaptogens are used to improve the health of your adrenal system, the system that’s in charge of managing your body’s hormonal response to stress.  They help strengthen the body’s response to stress and enhance its ability to cope with anxiety and fight fatigue - slowly and gently, without jolts or crashes.

The seeds, leaves, pods and oils of the Moringa plant are used globally as an ingredient in many common dishes.  As part of traditional medicine, it supports the immune response, eases swelling and promotes energy and adrenal health.

First of all, it’s important to understand that stress is only meant to exist in short bursts.  When your adrenal system remains in a constant active state, it throws your body out of balance.  Constant stress can wreak havoc on your body, especially on your digestive system and energy levels. Adaptogens keep your body’s stress response at a desirable level.  They’re good for you all the time, not just when you have a high level of stress.

They’re called adaptogens because of their unique ability to “adapt” their function according to your body’s specific needs.  Though the effects may initially be subtle and take time to make themselves felt, they’re real and undeniable.

Several other health benefits include:

·         A boost for the immune system

·         Support for managing a healthy weight

·         Increased physical endurance and mental focus

·         Reduction in discomfort caused by poor health

·         Encouraging a balance mood

Most people don’t realize there are about 80,000 different chemicals being dumped into our environment on a regular basis and we are inhaling, absorbing or ingesting them, which brings them to the attention of the body police, the immune system.  Our second largest organ, the liver, is involved in most of the millions of physiological processes in the body and known to carry out more than five hundred functions.  Probably the best known function of the liver is detoxification.

Toxins accumulate in our tissues when the immune system cannot handle the load and the liver becomes less efficient and unable to carry out needed functions successfully.  When liver function is affected or there are increasing amounts of toxins in our blood stream we experience headaches, skin rashes, fatigue, constipation, flatulence, bloated feelings, exacerbated allergic reactions, hormonal dysfunction and weight gain.

When you take Moringa, the adaptogen targets the most critical area of that person’s need.  People who work in a toxic environment, consume drugs, drink alcohol or smoke should examine their lifestyle, past or present, and may realize that immediate intervention is occurring within their bodies.

Consuming Moringa over time as an important lifestyle change will eventually provide results with other health issues and accomplish even more positive changes in many persistent chronic problems.

Vitamins, Minerals, Protein (Essential and Non-essential Amino Acids) readily available in Moringa

Vitamins, Minerals, Protein (Essential and Non-essential Amino Acids) are readily available in Moringa as a fresh or dried natural food source.

One serving of dried Moringa has more vitamin C than seven oranges, 17 times the calcium present in milk, and twice the protein.  Fifteen times the amount of potassium found in a single banana. It has 25 times more iron than spinach; 4 times more protein than eggs; 10 times more Vitamin A than carrots.  It can reduce free radicals in the body that cause cancer and speed aging.  It can lower blood pressure due to its high levels of Niacin in the form of A1 and A5 as well as Vitamins B3 and B10. Just 3 Tablespoons of fresh Moringa leaves contain 8.3 g protein, 434 mg calcium, 404 mg potassium, 738 μg vitamin A, and 164 mg vitamin C. Moringa also contains substantial amounts of Vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, B6, B7, C, D, E, and K.

Isoleucine and Leucine promote natural energy, brain health, alertness and high energy.

Lysine helps the bones absorb calcium and build collagen in bones, helps create antibodies, regulates hormones and balances nutrients.

Methionine Supplies sulfur to the body, lowers cholesterol, increases the liver’s production of lecithin. It reduces fat stores in the liver, protects the kidneys and promotes healthy skin, hair and nails.

Phenylalanine promotes nerve cell communication in the brain by releasing needed chemicals that support this function.  Reduces hunger pangs, improves memory, keeps you alert and boosts the mood.

Threonine assists metabolism, prevents fat build up in the liver, and promotes digestion and a healthy intestinal tract.

Tryptophan supports the immune system, lessens depression, insomnia and migraine headaches.  Combined with lysine reduces bad cholesterol and reduces arterial spasm that can cause heart attacks

Valine promotes body coordination and a calm mind.

Other non-essential amino acids like alanine, arginine, aspartic acid, cystein, glycine, histidine, serine, proline, tyrosine and glutamic acid carry out vital activities in our body from wound healing to immune boosting and cancer tumor suppression, to muscle and tissue growth.

Moringa and Swollen Goiter

Hello fellow Moringians. My name Is Victoria M. I have been a fan and user of Moringa Oleifera since late February of this year. In just the short time that I have been using it, it has been amazing, absolutely amazing. Just a little history on me. I have had a swollen goiter for over 10 years. For those that don’t know what a goiter is, it is the butterfly shaped gland on either side of your windpipe.

Every year it seemed to get bigger so I am required to get an ultrasound to make sure it does not close off my windpipe and it’s not cancerous. It had already pushed my esophagus over almost two inches. The doctor (my endocrine doctor) said, “As long as I can swallow and breathe, they will not bother to remove it”. If I remove it, I’ll have to take Thyroid medication for the rest of my life.

Well, on Saturday March 12, I had just gotten out of the shower, and noticed something different about my neck and face area. I discovered that the goiter was half the size it use to be. I called to my husband to come look. He immediately noticed that it was smaller as well; especially from the side view. We both gave praise to GOD. Ten years guys; I always have had faith that it would change. GOD brought Moringia into our lives. It’s called the miracle tree. GOD is the miracle worker and GOD gave us the tree. It continued to reduce in size as well as my weight loss.

My regimen for Moringa is:

·         1 capsule twice a day

·         1 shelled seed, three times a day

·         Tea throughout the day

·         ½ teaspoon of Moringa powder in a smoothie once a week (my personal favorite is the Hibiscus Tea)

I have no doubt that GOD has brought this to us through Linda and her friend Fabian. I am so grateful that I have my entire family using it. I will post before and after pictures of the goiter. Until next time guys, keep on Moring-ing.

Hibiscus tea and the benefits of moringa

Zanzibar Tea is a blend of Hibiscus, Moringa and cinnamon.  When sipping and enjoying brewed herbal tea the body can assimilate all the nutrients in a gentle and an easy to digest method.  Hibiscus tea brewed alone is delicious and has significant benefits as well and are listed below.

I have discovered a palatable form of taking Moringa powder in a large enough amount to impact on our body systems overall: Rather than blending the Moringa powder with your favorite fruits and vegetable and using the entire smoothie as a meal replacement you can have the option of a smaller version that I have nicknamed 'a smoothette' using a small bullet type blender. Use 1/2 sliced banana, 6 oz. ready made hibiscus tea, add 1 heaping tsp. of Moringa powder and top with a bunch of spinach leaves. The results are a delicious 8 oz. drink and can accompany your breakfast, lunch or dinner. The challenge was to find fruits, juices and vegetables in a small quantity that would create a mellow and satisfying drink successfully.  Yea !

A gradual increase as tolerated by the needs of your body would create a foundation of nutrients that will address every body system and organs effectively.  Some changes are noted immediately and others are noted when realize you are generally healthier, limber, mentally more acute and enjoying your life !

Hibiscus tea is an herbal tea made as an infusion from crimson or deep magenta-coloured flowers of the Hibiscus plant.  Moringa Zanzibar tea is a delicious and refreshing product that is compatible with hibiscus and cinnamon.

Hibiscus flowers contain anthocyanins which are believed to be an active anti hypertensive.

Drinking hibiscus tea may lower blood pressure in people with type 2 diabetes, prehypertension, or mild hypertension.

Hibiscus is used for treating loss of appetite, colds, heart and nerve diseases, upper respiratory tract pain and swelling (inflammation), fluid retention, stomach irritation, and disorders of circulation; for dissolving phlegm; as a gentle laxative; and as a diuretic to increase urine output.

In foods and beverages, hibiscus is used as a flavoring. It is also used to improve the odor, flavor, or appearance of tea mixtures.

How does it work?

The fruit acids in hibiscus may work like a laxative. Some researchers think that other chemicals in hibiscus might be able to lower blood pressure; decrease spasms in the stomach, intestines, and uterus; and works like antibiotics to kill bacteria and worms.

  • As a way to help keep them cool in the desert environment in which they lived – Consumed by ancient Egyptians, and still a practice today as the tea is used as a 'refrigerant' to help maintain healthy body temperatures.
  • To promote cardiac and nervous system health – A preparation from the red calyces is used traditionally in Egypt.
  • As a traditional aid for occasional nervous restlessness and occasional difficulty sleeping
  • Supporting your blood pressure within the normal range
  • Promoting your cholesterol levels within their normal ranges
  • Helping you better manage weight control challenges

Weight Loss with Moringa Protein Powder

Weight Loss

One of the best ways to suppress appetite and reduce calorie intake is to use a natural protein powder.  It’s been researched and documented that Moringa tree has a high nutritional value so it makes sense to use the most nutritional part of the tree—the leaves--in protein powder.  The leaves have a significant source of B vitamins, vitamin C, vitamin A as beta-carotene, vitamin K, manganese, and protein among other essential nutrients.

Moringa protein powder has everything a person needs to stay healthy and feel full throughout the day by just adding fruit in a smoothie.  It’s a great meal replacement for people seeking to shed a few pounds.  Add the natural protein powder into a smoothie and get the same, if not more health benefits than a well-balanced meal.  It’s healthier for many reasons but one key reason is that it can help cut out the extra carbs from your diet.
